These are modern materials, not the 19 th century paste and cardboard construction found in most other brands. We offer FIVE stiffness options for stock shoes, and additional options by special order. Our polymers are a type of synthetic material prized for extraordinary flexibility, strength, and resilience. They are neither rubber nor fiberglass.
The ones we use are also found in medical devices such as prosthetics, and in a wide range of athletic equipment. They can actually help promote correct alignment see FAQ. Shanks are pre-arched for better support and a prettier line. However, the dancer must still work her feet in moving through the demi-pointe position. We place different densities of Poron in different areas. An additional, medium density cushion is underneath your heel to protect it and to ensure that you never feel the edge of the shank.
Instead of pleats, high density impact and noise! Our Cappuccino, Mocha, and Espresso satins make it so much easier to complement a wide range of skin tones. They work well as a base for further customization, but also work for many dancers as-is. Our linings are treated with silver ion, and are slightly textured to help prevent the shoe from sliding along the foot. After being tied it is easily concealed in the natural space at your arch, making for a clean, uninterrupted line along the vamp.
It also provides the space for noise and impact reducing materials under the satin. Platforms are available in either satin or suede. Full sizes and half sizes, most in 3 widths, 5 box shapes, 5 stiffnesses, 2 vamps, 2 heel heights. Special orders allow further customization including extra shank reinforcement, different satin finishes, suede platforms, and adjustments to sides, vamp, and heel.
A: Actually, Gaynor Mindens cost less to use than other brands because they last an average of times longer — and with suede tips you can expect even more durability. Gaynor Minden is the only pointe shoe with flexible polymers, also known as elastomerics, in both areas of shoe that provide support: the shank and the box.
Most other pointe shoes have a paper and paste construction that dates to the 19 th century. Elastomerics are highly specialized materials, engineered for extraordinary flexibility, resilience, and strength, so naturally they are more costly than paper and paste. Finally, Gaynor Minden pointe shoes are hand made in Europe. If you examine the stitching and workmanship we think you will agree that our quality and consistency are unequaled. But I've heard a lot of rumors about Gaynors, like after you wear them your feet won't adapt to anything else.
Is this true? What is your opinion on Gaynors? I'll send pictures soon! Hello Larisa, Thank you very much for contacting me it is a pleasure to hear from you. I understand your trouble with your pointe shoes, so do not worry. How long have you been wearing your Russian pointe shoes for?
It seems strange that they have only just started to look not as pleasing for you. But this is normal, because as you progress through your pointe training your feet are constantly developing and strengthening so it is natural for your fit of pointe shoe to change too. It is true that dancer's should work their feet in their pointe shoes, yet I do feel the pointe shoes make a crucial different to how you feel when you dance. Evan, it sounds like your shoes weren't the ideal fit.
The biggest fitting mistake with Gaynor Mindens is to choose the same shank as on ordinary pointes - which will throw you up on releve and perhaps send you "over the top". It sounds as though you were sinking into the shoe too much, too, if your toes took such a beating! I had practiced pointe for three years, and my instructor always called gaynor's "cheater shoes. They are very easy to releve in, but I had to be careful because it was very easy to go too far over the box because of the provided support.
Once on pointe the gaynor's were beautiful, but they were terrible for classwork. I would say they are for "weak feet" because doing in releve exercise, the shoes sort of bypasses using the muscles in the ball of the foot and you're pretty much just using your ankles.
Dancing on them was really nice! They look beautiful! But just after one week, both of my big toe nails turned black and fell off! I'm never using gaynor's again!
They are good for people who cannot stay on pointe, but you're better off just working in a traditional shoe and getting up on pointe the best way, through hard work! I'm with Marisa, make sure that your teacher is okay. I for example was introduced to the shoes by my teacher, because I have very good muscle memory and crazy strong feet I had Dimonds they didn't even last 2 months, I have blochs now and the box is dead while the shank is fine, so those aren't great either.
Now, I'm off to buy myself a pair of GM, because my parents are getting frustrated with constant buying of pointe shoes. Some teachers still don't like them, or prefer you to start with a "normal" shoe to learn what that feels like. I love these shoes. The people on the news video are talking rubbish, I think Gaynor Mindens look better because they look pointier excuse the pun which makes the dancer look more weightless and that makes the dancing look even more effortless, so I think they look better.
They are also WAY more comfortable. All the other pointe shoes hurt like hell. To hold shoes securely on the feet use Heel Grippers. A Gaynor Minden can be any one of different pointe shoes.
You can select not just length and width. You have several stiffness choices all colour coded , 3 box choices, 2 vamp choices and 3 heel choices, including the Sleekfit for dancers with narrow heels. All are available without a special order. You can tell at a glance what stiff a pair of Gaynor Mindens are by the colour of the drawstring bag they are in:.
