Can you confirm if these bosch sensors are the same for an 08 S8? Yes the S6 and S8 PN is the same for all of the 02s. With the exception of some Subarus, 4 cylinder engines only have one bank. You will often see codes that reference bank 1, and there is only one bank to pick from, therefore, bank 1.
How about bank 1 and bank 2 for a single exhaust 4 cylinder engine? Is that the front the the rear O2 sensor? When it does this , no sound at all, after trying awhile it will start. My understanding is that odd number cylinders are on the passenger side and even numbers on the drivers side which makes the Bank 2 pointing towards drivers side.
