SkunkGrinder He is of part-Jamaican descent, and I would say that is still fairly common - for example, Stefflon Don couldn't be more British but she raps with a strong Jamaican accent. This was back in Rapping in a UK accent wasn't really a big thing then.
Everyone would rap in a wannabe American or Jamaican accent. Now, it's a big no no for UK artists to rap in a fake accent. There are loads of British people still in London I can assure you lol.
The Jamaican culture just has had a big influence on London culture since Music in the 60's or even earlier and it filtered down to the slang till this day.
